On Monday Jaitley lambasted Singh for taking undue advantage from a private company who had defaulted in the terms of ‘contract and completion of job in time’ concerning a hydropower project.
He has already written a letter to the prime minister Manmohan Singh and the director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) demanding a probe.
To keep the pressure on the government the youth wing of BJP (BJYM) led by its national president Anurag Thakur reached Gandhi’s Tughlaq Lane residence in the afternoon and demanded the resignation of Himachal Pradesh chief minister.
The situation was later brought under control after the intervention of the local police. Police resorted to mild force and water cannons as the demonstrators tried to cross over the barricades set up by them.
Since 2011, BJP is demanding a probe against Singh by claiming that that there are evidences that the private company have defaulted their contract concerning hydropower project work in Himachal Pradesh, but surprisingly they were given an extension in the time to complete the job.
‘The Himachal Pradesh government had given an extra 10 months to the company, and there are allegations that the firm’s promoter had made cheque payments of Rs.3.5 crore to the chief minister and his wife Pratibha Singh, who is currently a member of the Lok Sabha,” Jaitley said.
Yashwant Sinha takes a dig at Gandhi scion
New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha claimed that Rahul Gandhi’s projection as a possible prime ministerial candidate in the coming Lok Sabha election is not going to help anymore to the party because people have already shown their ‘remark’ against them in the recent polls.
There are speculations that PM Manmohan Singh will set the stage to project Rahul as the party’s prime ministerial candidate on 3 January. In September, Rahul had criticised cabinet decision to shield convicted politicians from being forced to quit Parliament if they are convicted of serious crimes. Then, he also described the executive order passed by the prime minister as ‘nonsense’ and dramatically tore it up in a press conference. Since, then there are rumors that Singh might give up the country’s top job before the LS poll. Also Singh made it very clear that he is willing to work under Rahul after 2014 in the party.
