The alleged leader of the burglars’ gang, who went absconding after killing a Delhi Police constable and injuring another at outer Delhi’s Vijay Vihar on October 12, was arrested from the Kamrup district of Assam, police said on Tuesday.

He was identified by the police as Anil Tunda – a notorious history-sheeter from outer Delhi – and he fled from the city as soon as the police started arresting his associates.

All his associates, including a juvenile, were apprehended within 24-hours of the incident.

Tunda was arrested based on an input that he had left for Guwahati by train. “The Assam police were immediately contacted and a special team of the outer district of Delhi Police was sent there. Tunda was later tracked in the outskirts of the Guwahati city,” said Vikramjit Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer).
