While talking about the future plans of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Uttarakhand, party’s state president Tirath Singh Rawat said, ‘The Lok Sabha elections are a few months away, and we are preparing at all levels to win the confidence of the people.’
‘We will start the campaign of ‘gaon chalo, ghar-ghar chalo’ (go village, visit every home) from 10 September to 25 Septembe to connect people from every village’, the Uttarakhand BJP chief said.
He further added that senior leaders of the party will lead the team of youth, women and senior citizens to strengthen party at the grassroots level.
On the question of declaring candidates, Rawat said, ‘Candidates for the five Lok Sabha seats has not been declared yet, but with the decisions of party’s senior leaders, the names of the candidates would be finalised soon.’
He further added that he has travelled many villages in Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri and Uttarakashi districts soon after the massive tragedy. The villagers are waiting for food and medicines, but the state government is passing the buck on poor road connectivity and washed away bridges.
‘If the villages are unapproachable, then how journalists and RSS workers are visiting on the spot. A few days back, a group of pilgrims from other state reached Badrinath shrine. It clears shows that the state government is not determined to help the poor villagers of Uttarakhand,’ he asked the state government.
