In order to put pressure on ruling Samajwadi Party over corruption issues, senior BJP leaders staged a protest at Noida Authority and other parts of the city. The BJP leaders blamed the state government and authority officials for shielding corrupt officials like Yadav Singh.
Meanwhile, the state government on Friday announced suspension of Singh, weeks after discharging him from the post of engineer-in-chief of all three industrial development authorities of Gautambuddh Nagar district. “As per the inquiry recommendations, the state government has decided to suspend Yadav Singh. Further probe is on in this matter,” said an official spokesperson of the UP government.
Early morning, scores of BJP leaders including state BJP president Laxmikant Bajpai, Union Minister Mahesh Sharma, several MPs and MLAs along with the party workers blocked the area while sitting at dharna. Following the protest, local police closed key roads of the city that led to traffic chaos for the entire day. As the protesters were reluctant to end the ruckus, senior authority officials met the leaders but failed to satisfy them. “We have put our demands before the Chairman and if we do not get satisfactory answers, we will camp at the authority’s office,” said Bajpai.
