Enthused with the success of the 108 toll free number Samajwadi Swastha Seva ambulance service presently functional in 13 districts of the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday lagged off another 300 ambulances to be deployed in 21 districts.
Lauding the state health department for spearing ahead in providing facilities to the poor people of the state, Yadav in his address said, ‘I can say with confidence that the state health department is away ahead in comparison to other departments in serving the people besides controlling corruption.’
In presence of several ministers, the CM announced that his government was committed to give free medical facilities to the poor people as promised during the election campaign. ‘Our government has decided to set up a separate hospital in Gorakhpur for the patients of Encephalitis besides compensation of Rs 50,000 for the dead and Rs 1,00,000 for the disabled children would be given,’ he said.
This was the third programme of the CM where he inaugurated the ambulances. A total of 433 Samajwadi Swastha Seva ambulances have been introduced in 34 districts of the state so far whose service can be obtained free of cost by dialing telephone Number 108.
State Health minister Ahmed Hassan announced that by the end of December the total number of ambulances would go up to 988.
