Update: 2013-03-11 01:00 GMT
In a desperate bid to nail former Uttar Pradesh minister Raja Bhaiya, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is seeking evidence and witnesses in every possible way. The CBI has set up a camp office at Nagar Panchayat Bhawan in Uttar Pradesh’s Kunda town to investigate the murders of Ziaul Haque, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nanhe Yadav and his brother Suresh Yadav on 2 March.

‘This may help in finding witnesses who otherwise would be scared to speak to us as there is terror of the accused in the area,’ CBI sources said and added that Raja Bhaiya will soon be questioned. However, officials were tight-lipped on his possible date of arrest. ‘We need to collect evidence before taking any step,’ the officials said.

‘Any person who wants to provide information regarding these incidents or circumstances leading to these incidents may approach the CBI camp office. They may also contact us through phone/fax at 05341-230006 or e-mail at spscu1del@cbi.gov.in,’ a statement by the CBI stated, adding that, ‘The Identity of the informant would be kept secret, if so desired by him/her.

‘The CBI re-assures that no citizen would face any harassment during the aforesaid investigations and appeals to residents, some of whom seem to have made themselves unavailable, to return to their homes and assist the CBI in a fair probe,’ an official said. All three murders took place at Balipur village of Hathigawan police station area in Kunda.
