UP Civil Services paper leaked on WhatsApp

The question paper of the Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Services preliminary examination was allegedly leaked on WhatsApp messenger  on Sunday, before the start of the examination after which police swung into action.

“The paper was leaked at about 9.15am on WhatsApp before start of the examination. It has matched with the original paper of PCS preliminary. We have informed the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary in this regard,” said Director General of Police (DGP) AK Jain.

He said that police has got initial leads in the case.

“STF teams are working on it and we will soon workout the paper leak,” Jain said.
The PCS preliminary examination was being held across the the state. The first shift was from 9.30am to 11.30am and second shift from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

District Magistrate, Lucknow, Rajshekhar said that the examination will he held as per schedule in the second shift.

“The paper in the second shift will be held as per schedule. As far as paper leakage is concerned, STF is probing the matter,” he added.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties have demanded the dismissal of UPPSC chairman Anil Yadav. They have also sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the leak.

BJP spokesperson Manoj Mishra said, “The paper leak incident should be probed by CBI and UPPSC Chairman Anil Yadav should be immediately dismissed. He was involved in anomalies in PCS last year too. The leakage of PCS paper is not a trivial incident as fate of thousand of students depended on it.”

He said the recruitments process after April 2, 2013, when Anil Yadav took over the reins of the panel, should be probed.

Congress leader Akhilesh Pratap Singh also demanded a thorough probe into the paper leak.
“Those involved in paper leak should be brought to book and the entire process of examinations should be made fool proof so that such incidents could be avoided in future,” he said.
