The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested a senior branch manager of the United India Insurance Company from Ghazipur in Uttar Pradesh for allegedly accepting a bribe of 10 per cent of the claim amount.
A CBI spokesperson said the official was arrested for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a complainant.
“A case was registered against senior branch manager, United India Insurance Company Limited, Ghazipur under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for demanding 10 per cent of the claim amount from the complainant, who owns a truck which met with an accident in May, 2015,” she said.
The official said that the CBI laid a trap and the senior branch manager was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe.
The arrested accused will be produced before the court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption CBI, Lucknow, on Thursday, she said.
