A security guard, identified as Prem Kumar, deployed at a CNG pump in Noida Sector 51, was beaten to death by unidentified robbers while he tried to foil the robbery bid.
The police said that the guard was attacked by unidentified robbers when only two people were present at the pump. He was hit against a divider on the road and his hands and feet were tied up before the robbers committed the crime.
Police have registered a case on the complaint of the owner of the pump and have sent the body for post-mortem examination. It may be noted that this is the second attack at same pump in two months time but the police have not yet been able to identify the assailants.
According to the police, the incident took place at around 4 am when the security guard, Prem Kumar (35), was on duty at the CNG pump in Sector 51. Nearly half dozen armed robbers approached the pump with the motive to rob. While resisting the bid, the assailants beat up the guard brutally with rods and bricks that caused his death. They also beat up a minor mechanic, Shahrukh (12), who was also present at the pump.
They looted cash, the gun of the guard and unsuccessfully tried to break the lockers. A passer-by informed the police about the incident. The police revealed that the robbers had also destroyed the CCTV cameras installed at the pump to hide their identities.
The police reached the spot and found the guard lying in a pool of blood. They also noticed marks of loot at the pump premises and valuables were missing from the lockers too.
Colonel Mahendra Pratap Singh, owner of the CNG pump and a local resident, lodged a complaint against unidentified criminals at Sector 49 police station. He revealed that this was the second attack at the pump as earlier few persons had tried to conduct a robbery bid.
The cops, however, said that they are investigating the matter. ‘We have sent the body for post-mortem examination and have informed the family also. We have taken the CCTV footage in our possession and are scanning it,’ said a senior official investigating the case. Prem Kumar was a resident of Etah and was living at Chijarshi village on rented accommodation.
