Couple of days after Delhi urban development minister A K Walia said that city is all set to regularised 624 unauthorised colonies in the city, 16 MLAs from Congress party have given a letter to chief minister Sheila Dikshit. They say they are not satisfied with finalising of the boundaries of their constituency for regularisation.

Sources said in the letter, the MLAs have written that they are not satisfied with finalising of boundaries in their constituency by Survey of India and the satellite and aerial survey images as obtained in 2007.

MLAs, including senior party leader Naseeb Singh, Devender Yadav, Mateen Ahmed, Surinder Pal Singh among others, have conveyed this message to Dikshit . Talking to Millennium Post from Seelampur constituency, MLA Mateen Ahmed said, ‘Yes, we have given a written letter to CM demanding complete regularisation of a particular area and not boundaries of some colonies which have been finalised by the authorities concerned.’

Sources said these MLAs also demand to amend the criteria for regularisation, which is 50 per cent or more built up area in 2007 as per reports submitted by the Survey of India, to save their vote bank and to have other benefits. Earlier Millennium Post had reported that one of the main reasons of delaying the regularisation work is by MLAs who demands the regularisation according to their benefits. Sources added that in certain areas MLAs are demanding that 40-45 percent built up area should be taken for consideration.
