Under-construction building’s wall collapses, 1 dead

A 20-year-old labourer died while several others were severely injured after a wall of an under-construction building collapsed right behind Lahori Gate police station near Masjid Tewar Khan in North Delhi’s Lahori Gate area on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Muqram. Senior police officers said that a case has been registered in this regard.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 3 pm near Masjid Tewar Khan in the lane where the wall of an under-construction building collapsed. According to the fire department officials, they received a call at around 5 pm. Based on which three fire tenders were rushed to the spot. After several hours, the labourers were taken out of the debris.

Police said that they rushed Muqram as well as the injured labourers to Aruna Asaf Ali hospital where Muqram was declared dead on admission. While the injured are being treated.

Police added that they have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code at the Lahori Gate police station against the building owner. Further investigation is on.

In April this year, two labourers died while two others suffered major injuries when the second and third floor of an under-construction old residential building collapsed near the Church Mission police 
post in Lahori Gate in the Walled City’s Khari Baoli area on Thursday morning.
