UN chief to visit Pakistan today

United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon will on Tuesday begin a two-day official visit to Pakistan during which he will interact with the country’s top leadership.
Ban will call on president Asif Ali Zardari and prime minister Nawaz Sharif and meet the advisor to the prime minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz.
The secretary-general will be a special guest at the flag hoisting ceremony on 14 August, Pakistan’s Independence Day.
Ban will receive a briefing at the National Disaster Management Authority and also meet Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, the younger brother of the premier. He will also inaugurate the Center for International Peace and Stability at the National University of Science and Technology in Islamabad.
