With Ardh Kumbh Mela hardly two years away, it’s time for police to catch anti-social elements. The floods in Uttarakhand, last year, has already paralysed the state’s tourism industry. The natural calamity of last year created fear among hundreds and thousands of pilgrim tourists.
Apart from religious tourists, Uttarakhand is also visited by enthusiastic youths from across the world, for its scenic beauty and adventure it offers.
The hotel owners in the state has called for ‘tourism police’ to tackle the problem. A hotel-owner in
Dehradun said, ‘Now, setting-up of tourism police is the need of the hour before it becomes too late. This is the same state where water police came into operation after accidents in river were reported frequently. Besides this, regular police verification of local guides, bus owners and drivers, hotels, lodges can be the primary steps to make this state a safe and secure tourists destinations.’
