With a view to increase power generation capacity of Tehri Hydro Development Corporation, Uttarakhand government on Wednesday granted permission for storage of water up to 830 metres in its reservoir.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting chaired by chief secretary Subhash Kumar here, an official release here said.
However, the permission was granted after imposing certain conditions on THDC such as strict adherence to GSI parameters and norms set by the Central Water Commission.
THDC will have to ensure payment of 2 percent of its total earning of installed capacity or Rs 5 crore under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), whichever is less.
From this fund, Rehabilitation Directorate will maintain roads, pipe lines of drinking water and electricity supply at the rehabilitation sites.
