U’khand gets 4 health schemes

Patting the UPA government at the Centre, Union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad said that medical facilities in the country has got new dimension due to central government’s several public welfare schemes and health programmes.

‘India was the only country in the international context to introduce health programmes such as on maternal care. There had been relaxation in the norms for medical and health services to be provided to the people of hill states,’ he added.

The Union health was addressing a public gathering at Parade Ground here on Wednesday. He along with state chief minister Vijay Bahuguna inaugurated four public welfare health schemes for the people of this hill state under the National Health Mission.

He added that the scope of projects being run by the central government had been increased, which was why these four health programmes had been inaugurated in the state. He said there were enough medical colleges in the country, but it was regrettable that graduates chose to work in foreign countries.
