Two young British police officers took selfies at the scene of a horrific air crash that killed 11 people, prompting authorities to launch a probe against the cops for gross misconduct.

Two police officers are being investigated for gross misconduct after the Shoreham air crash filmed themselves near the scene, the BBC reported on Tuesday.

Sussex Police deputy chief constable Olivia Pinkney said the officers, who are new in service, were working on the cordon some distance from the scene of the crash.

She said the video did not show details of the <g data-gr-id="16">site</g> but a message attached to it was inappropriate and offensive.

She said families of the victims were disappointed to learn of the incident.

Eleven people died and 16 others were injured when a vintage Hawker Hunter T7 jet crashed <g data-gr-id="14">on to</g> a highway during the Shoreham Airshow on August 22.

Pinkney said the force had apologised to the relatives and had admitted the families had been caused unnecessary distress.
