Uday Bhaan murder: 2 held

Delhi Police have arrested two youth for the robbery cum murder of 25-year-old Uday Bhaan near Liberty Cinema at New Rohtak road in Central Delhi’s Desh Bandhu Gupta road area. According to the police, the duo has been identified as Dinesh Kumar and Deepak Kumar, both 19 year olds. Police recovered the scooty by which the accused had fled the spot. 

According to the police, in the early hours of June 18, police received a call that a man has been lying on a footpath near Lal Sons Jewellers. Based on the inspection, police found that the man, later identified as Uday Bhaan, has been robbed of cash and jewellery en route to Sarai Rohilla railway station.

Police said that extensive investigation led them to the accused who were seen by eyewitnesses at the time of the incident. The accused had come on a white scooty, robbed Uday and fled. Based on a tip-off, police laid a trap near Liberty cinema and arrested the duo.

During interrogation, they revealed that they drank liquor at Anand Parbat and decided to rob a person. Looking out for a prey, they came to the New Rohtak road as they knew that several train passengers pass through that stretch at night.

When they reached Liberty cinema, they noticed a person carrying a bag. Seeing it as an opportunity, accused Dinesh stopped the scooty. The accused Deepak and his other accomplices attacked Uday and tried to rob him. When the victim resisted, they overpowered him and stabbed him. After that they fled the scene.
