Two more test positive for dengue in city

Two more persons here have tested positive for dengue taking the number of those afflicted by the disease in the city to eight.

Two cases were reported from Rohini zone and Rajendra Nagar area last week, Municipal Health Officer N K Yadav said on Tuesday.

‘This is less in comparison to the number of dengue cases reported last year during this time. Eleven people had tested positive for dengue virus by this time last year. We had started checking for breeding of mosquitoes in the month of April,’ Yadav said.

Meanwhile, as per the National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme, the central nodal agency for the prevention and control of such diseases across the country, a total of 6,176 dengue fever cases were reported till June this year.

Maximum cases have been reported from Tamil Nadu with 3,392 cases. 37 of the 62 deaths have been reported from this state alone, the data given by NVBDCP said.
