Two more people have been arrested in the Rs 5.25-crore bank van robbery case in which a security guard was shot dead in the capital’s Defence Colony area in September, police said on Sunday.

Ram Singh, 30, and Ajay, 32, residents of Delhi’s Mandawali and Vinod Nagar, respectively, were arrested Friday and Rs 13.5 lakh were recovered from their possession.

They confessed to have received around Rs 25 lakh from Yogesh, the fifth main accused absconding in the case, a police official said.

So far, as many as 14 people have been arrested in connection with the case and Rs 4.09 crore have been recovered by the police.

‘They (Ram Singh and Ajay) told us during interrogation that Yogesh contacted them the day after the robbery and handed over Rs 25 lakh to them,’ said Deputy Commissioner of Police Chhaya Sharma.

The DCP added that Yogesh also gave Rs 25 lakh to his younger brother and his friend. Both have been arrested and the money has been recovered, according to police.

0‘Four main accused – Deepak, Hari Kishan, Vijay Nahar Singh, and Ranjit Rumal – along with eight other co-accused, have also been arrested in the case either for their involvement in the robbery or keeping and disposal of the robbed cash,’ Sharma said.
