Two labour contractors shot dead in broad daylight

The deceased were identified as Ram Charan (42) and Lakhan Lal (52), both worked as labour contractors in the Rajendra Nagar area. Both Ram and Lakhan sustained one bullet injury each on their chests, fired from a close range. Both of them were residents of Inder puri locality in Delhi, 
which is not very far away from Rajendra Nagar, said a police official.

He further <g data-gr-id="45">said,</g> the incident took place around 9.30 am when the duo reached a tea-stall at Shankar Road for a morning tea. Suddenly, three unidentified bike-borne men approached them, one of them de-boarded the vehicle and shot both Ram and Lakhan from just outside the tea stall and fled in the motorbike. However, they were reportedly not masked or wearing helmets.

While Ram Charan died on <g data-gr-id="50">spot</g>, Lakhan was rushed to the BL Kapoor Hospital, where he <g data-gr-id="34">latter</g> succumbed to the injury. A case of murder against unknown persons was immediately registered and several teams were formed to nab the accused men, the official said.

Ram Charan was reportedly a witness in a criminal case pending at Tis Hazari court and the attack could be linked to it. “A separate team is looking into records at Tis Hazari court to find out about the case one of the victims was reported to be a witness in. 

However, the team couldn’t find anything till Thursday night. We have also questioned relatives of both the deceased persons and they claimed to know nothing about any such case till now. <g data-gr-id="33">Investigation</g> is underway,” said Paramaditya, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central).

The police have obtained CCTV footage from nearby premises and have been questioning people, including the tea-stall owner and other customers, who were present at the spot when the incident took place. The police <g data-gr-id="46">is</g> also mulling over getting sketches prepared to nab the accused.
