Two knifemen take several hostages in French church, attackers ‘neutralised’
The official said the identities of the attackers and motive for the attack on Tuesday are unclear.
The two men, armed with knives, took several people hostage in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray. Police said that four to six people were held by the assailants in the church.
Live TV images of the incident showed police had blocked off the roads around the church and paramedics were seen pulling stretchers out of ambulances.
No details of any injuries were immediately available.
