Two killed, six injured in road accidents

A 25-year-old youth died after being hit by a Grameen Sewa tempo in Mayur Vihar on Sunday morning.

The police said Arun [25] was killed when a speeding tempo rammed into the motorcycle he was travelling in at Labour Chowk in Mayur Vihar Phase III. His friend, Libo, who was returning home with him was injured as well.

According to the police, Arun worked in the FNB department of the Taj Hotel. Libo worked at another hotel. They both were returning home on the motorcycle at 4.30 am. When they reached Labour Chowk, a speeding tempo vehicle, coming from the opposite side of the road, rammed into them.

Sources said that both the victims were rushed to the Lal Bahadur Shastri [LBS] Hospital, where doctors declared Arun as brought dead and Libo is presently undergoing treatment there.

According to sources, the driver left his vehicle behind and fled the accident scene. The police has registered a case under the appropriate sections of the law. After post mortem, Arun’s body has been handed over to his family.

In the second accident, which occurred at 5 am in Gokulpuri, 32-year-old Naseem died after being hit by an unidentified vehicle. He went to Brijpuri to buy property from an acquaintance. While returning home, he was waiting for an auto-rickshaw at the main road of Gokulpuri.

An unidentified vehicle ran over him at the main road. Naseem’s head was completely crushed, informed the police. His body has been preserved at the Guru Teg Bahadur [GTB] Hospital for post mortem. The police has informed his family and is presently investigating the matter.

In the third accident, an auto-rickshaw and a tempo rammed into each other at a traffic signal at Welcome in Seelampur.

Rajesh, 33, and his friends, Deepak, Setu, Karan, Dayanand, were reportedly travelling in the auto-rickshaw at 3.45 am on Sunday. Sources said that they were heading to Lal Qila to setup their stalls at the Sunday Market.

A speeding tempo coming from Shahdara rammed into the auto-rickshaw. Police said that five people were injured in the accident. They were taken to the GTB Hospital.The tempo driver allegedly fled the scene. The police has registered a case.
