Two held for stealing Rs 13L

A 27-year-old youth and his friend were arrested for allegedly stealing Rs 13 lakh from his employer to start a business, police said on Sunday.

A businessman, Arsh Kumar, who sells mobile accessories in Karol Bagh area of the city, filed a police complaint alleging that his employee Vijay Kumar, who had been working with him for the past 10 years, had not delivered Rs 11 lakh cash and a cheque of Rs 2 lakh to his clients as instructed, police said.

The next day, when Arsh tried to contact him his mobile phone was found switched off, a police official said.

Through technical surveillance, police found that Vijay was in Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh and apprehended him from there and Rs 5 lakh was also recovered from his possession.

On interrogation, he confessed that he had given the remaining cash and the cheque to his friend Jasbir Singh, police said.

Later, police also arrested Jasbir and recovered the remaining Rs 6 lakh cash and the cheque.

‘He committed the crime to start his own business with his friend,’ the police official said.
