Two held for Rs 22L robbery

Two persons, who had allegedly robbed around Rs 22 lakh from two private firm employees at gunpoint on March 9, were arrested by a police team from a marriage party in north-west Delhi’s Britannia Chowk, police said on Wednesday.

The accused opened fire at the police officials, which led to a chaotic situation in the marriage party.

The police officials also fired a few bullets on air and later overpowered them. A police constable was also injured during the brief encounter. The accused were identified as Kuldeep Singh Rithalia (30), a proclaimed bad character from Keshav Puram area, and his accomplice Sunil (26). Around Rs 21.50 lakh has already been recovered from their possession, said N Gnanasambandan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West).

According to the police, the incident was reported from Netaji Subhash Place area on March 9 evening. Two bike-borne persons, who work at a private office there and were reportedly carrying around Rs 22 lakh for a transaction, were intercepted by car near a T-point on the road.
