A class 10th student was allegedly kidnapped and murdered over illicit relations in Greater Noida.
The body of the deceased, identified as Ashu Balmiki, was found in the bushes in Bilaspur area during the wee hours of Tuesday. Two persons have also been arrested in connection with the case.
‘We have arrested two persons, identified as Yamin and Rohit, in this case. Both the accused are auto rickshaw drivers. During their interrogation, they confessed to their crime,’ said Praveen Kumar Yadav, SHO, Dankaur.
The deceased, who was also a part time auto rickshaw driver, was missing from his residence in Dankaur area since 23 October. The incident triggered unrest in the area and as a result the police have deployed two companies of Provincial Armed Constabulary to avert any untoward incident. ‘During investigations, Ashu’s friends told us that he was last seen with Yamin and Rohit. When they were called for interrogation, they confessed to the crime,’ Yadav added.
As the news of his death spread in the area, the locals staged demonstration and demanded fair probe and adequate compensation to the family of Ashu. ‘We have taken precautionary measures and deployed heavy force in the area. We don’t want to take any chances as resident of the area had already threatened for a massive agitation,’ said a senior police official.
According to sources, Ashu allegedly had illicit relation with a lady, who is said to be ten years older to him. The father of the woman didn’t approve of their relationship and allegedly hired two auto rickshaw drivers to execute Ashu. While the police have not disclosed any names yet, source said a lady named Monica had given them the contract for Ashu’s assassination.
