A home tutor, who allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl and frequently sent her obscene video clips over mobile phone, was arrested after the victim attempted to commit suicide by consuming dettol at Mandawali in east Delhi on Friday.
According to a police official, the victim’s mother came to know about the incident on Thursday when she noticed pornographic videos and lewd text messages on her daughter’s phone and reported that to her husband. In the evening, both of them questioned the 13-year-old victim, who then revealed to her parents that her home tutor, Johnson (25) alias Raja, was sexually assaulting her since the past two years and used to send her obscene materials over mobile phone.
After confiding in her parents, the victim locked herself in her room and attempted suicide by consuming a bottle of dettol. Her father broke the door open after repeated attempts and rushed the victim to the hospital, where her condition is now stated to be stable, said a police official.
He said, it was the hospital authorities who reported the incident to the police and a case was registered against Raja soon after medical examination of the victim confirmed rape. ‘Raja was immediately held,’ police said.
