Three police personnel died and around half-a-dozen were injured when an over speeding truck rammed into a dhaba in the Masuri area on Thursday night, where the cops were on duty in the riot-hit area.
The agitated jawans then blocked the NH-24 and damaged several vehicles. The vandalism continued till late in the night, when senior police officers reached the spot to control the situation.
‘We have ordered a departmental inquiry into the matter. The damaging of vehicles and lawlessness by security forces is unacceptable at any cost,’ said Prashant Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police [SSP], in Ghaziabad. The police have arrested the driver, conductor and helper of the truck.
According to sources, at the time of the incident, driver Vivek Yadav was sleeping while conductor Pradeep, 17, was driving the truck.
