Delhi Transport Minister Ramakant Goswami on Friday said that the Transport Department is continuing talks with auto-taxi unions, in view of the partial strike in the city. He stated that on Thursday 20 unions had decided to abstain from the strike during talks with the Transport Department. They had been given assurance that the earlier recommendations on their demands would be reconsidered, after which they agreed to not take part in the strike. Goswami conveyed his his appreciation to the unions for this constructive decision and stated that the Transport Department is sensitive to their demands and is eager to find out a cordial solution. On Friday office bearers of Bharatiya Tipahia Chalak Sangh and other unions called on Goswami and expressed their willingness to continue the talks. They also informed that they were abstaining from the strike.
In a separate development, the transport minister also announced on Friday that ‘25 per cent seats would be reserved for women passengers in all Delhi Transport Corporation buses with effect from Friday.’
