Kashmir police chief SJM Gilani on Tuesday said the investigation had started into the death of two persons, including a militant in Tral township of Pulwama, which had sparked off violent protests leaving 32 people, including 20 security personnel injured.
The situation will be clearer once the post-mortem report is received.
Meanwhile, Army Chief General Dalbir Singh on Wednesday visited Udhampur-based Northern Command and reviewed overall security situation of the state. The meeting assumes significance in wake of CM Mufti Sayeed meeting five top Commanders.
Encounter unfortunate, says Mufti
J&K Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Wednesday termed the killing of a youth in Tral as “unfortunate”, saying the Army should deal with the situation in the state “cautiously”. “It is an unfortunate incident. We will ascertain the facts in the case,” Sayeed said. “Such an incident should not have happened. I do not want to go into the details as it would not be right. Inquiries happen every time, but we will really ascertain the facts in this case,” he said.
