East Delhi Mayor Annapurna Mishra, in a written complaint to Delhi police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar, has requested him to get a letter posted by Congress parliamentarian P L Punia on Facebook removed and take legal action against him for posting such an ‘inflammatory and misguiding letter’.

‘The central government and senior leaders of the country are urging the people to maintain peace and not pay attention on the hate propaganda being spread against Myanmar for alleged killing of Muslims there. But Punia has used the same language against Myanmar, which is being used by rumour mongers,’ said Mishra in a meeting with Kumar on Thursday in his office.

She requested the top cop to order removal of the letter from Face book and take legal action against Punia.

Millennium Post accessed the letter written on the official letter pad of Punia, written to the Prime Minister Office on 16 August 2012, posted on the Facebook page.

In the letter, Punia has asked the Prime Minister to take necessary steps to prevent massacre of muslims in Myanmar.

According to the mayor, the objectionable part of the letter is, ‘Muslims in Myanmar are being tortured. They are being killed in open, their hands and feet chopped off. Even women and children are being butchered,’ read the letter.

Mishra has quoted this sentence in her complaint to the commissioner and also provided the link of his Facebook page.

She also asked the commissioner to take necessary steps to restore confidence of the north-eastern people in the city, who are leaving Delhi due to fear of riots being spread by rumour mongers.
