After his arrest, the 18-year-old fugitive who escaped from Tihar on June 27 evening told the joint team — comprising three Delhi Police officials and two Tihar security officials — that as many as eight relatives had come to meet him near Kashmere Gate ISBT before he left for his native village in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district with his parents in the same night, said a police source on Wednesday.
After his escape, <g data-gr-id="23">Javeid</g> rushed to his residence at South Delhi’s <g data-gr-id="24">Deoli</g> area and asked his parents to pack their bags immediately. Within an hour, the family left with whatever they could take with them. By the time a police team reached <g data-gr-id="25">Javeid’s</g> house, the door was found locked, said the source.
Later the police rounded up a few of <g data-gr-id="27">Javeid’s</g> associates, including his brother-in-law, and one of them reportedly disclosed details about Javed’s relatives at his native village. Their mobile phones were put under surveillance, and when <g data-gr-id="28">Javeid</g> allegedly called up one of them, the police became sure of his plans, said the source.
A joint team lead by Delhi Police sub-inspector Daljeet and two head constables from West Delhi’s Hari Nagar police station, accompanied by two officials of Tihar Jail — who knew <g data-gr-id="30">Javeid</g> by his physical appearance — arrested the teenager from his house on Tuesday night, said Pushpendra Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).
On Wednesday morning, <g data-gr-id="21">Javeid</g> was presented before a court and the police were later granted a transit remand. The team then left for Delhi, where <g data-gr-id="22">Javeid</g> is to be interrogated at the Hari Nagar Police Station. He is again scheduled to be presented before a local court on Thursday,
