Four bike-borne youths looted a cash van belonging to liquor baron Ponty Chadha, in Noida, on Sunday night, said police.
In the police complaint, incharge of the van claimed a heist of Rs 15 lakh but police registered a complaint for Rs four lakh only. In the same area, two other loots and one murder were committed within an hour but police is still groping in dark about them.
According to the police, the incident took place around 9 pm on Sunday, when a cash collection car of Ponty Chadha group reached Sector 52. The van was deployed to collect cash from liquor shops spread in Noida and Greater Noida.
Around four youths, two with guns and two with hockey sticks, smashed the windscreen of the car and overcame the four men inside. They then looted the cash and fled.
Incharge of the van, Manoj Sharma, registered a police complaint in Sector 24 police station in Noida.
Within half-an-hour of this incident, another businessman, based in Meerut, was attacked and he lost his car and Rs 15 lakh in cash. Suresh Kumar, was going to visit his daughter in Sector 21 but was looted near Sector 25, in the same police station area. The incident took place around 9.30 pm.
Around the same time in the vicinity, robbers looted a Delhi-based property dealer and murdered him. His body was recovered from Sector 20 police station area. However, police denied any links between the three incidents but the time and modus operandi indicates something else.
‘We are investigating the case and culprits will be nabbed soon. All incidents are separate and not linked,’ said Yogesh Singh, SP City, in Noida.
