In order to re-affirm the Swachh Bharat Mission commitment, the government will launch an intensive three-phased countrywide cleanliness campaign from Friday.
The campaign will cover railway stations, airports, bus depots, educational and medical institutions, religious places, heritage sites, taxi stands, markets, vegetable mandis among others, said a senior Urban Development Ministry official.
The campaign is divided into three phases. The first phase begins from Friday commensurating the birth anniversary of Late Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya. The phase, which aims to target citizen engagement at state, city, and ward levels, will end with the birth anniversary of Jayprakash Narayan on October 11 this year.
The second phase focuses on extensive cleanliness drive in transportation such as railways, buses, airports and taxis across the nation. This phase campaign will begin from the birth anniversary of Jayprakash Narayan on October 11 and end on the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel on October 31.
Eleven theme-based cleanliness drives are planned as part of the third phase starting from November 1 till March 31 next year.
Each theme is planned over 15 days with <g data-gr-id="24">focus</g> on agriculture mandis, water bodies, education institutions, tourist sites, hospitals, and public institutions with the collaboration of concerned central ministries.
