Four policemen were injured when a scuffle broke out between the locals and cops at North-east Delhi’s Shahdara area on Sunday night. In the light of the attack on the cops, three persons were arrested for damaging the property of a public servant and causing hurt to four of them, said a senior police officer of the North-east district.

According to the police, the incident took place at around 10.30 pm when they got a call that a robbery took place in the Rahimpur area.

Following the call, a team of cops rushed to the spot. However, a group of drunkards started arguing after which a scuffle broke out between them. In the scuffle, the drunk locals broke the police vans and allegedly thrashed the cops, said a senior Delhi Police officer.

“A case has been registered under appropriate sections of law at the Shahdara police station. We have arrested three persons,” said a senior police officer. Further investigation is underway.

A cop privy to the investigation also said that more arrests are likely.
