Along with presenting the best of theatre and catering to the preferences of theatre lovers in the city, the 18th Bharat Rang Mahotsav has also set up Food Bazaar and Theatre Bazaar. Including plays, allied events, national-international plays, this year ‘Bharangam’ has invited experts from various states to showcase their art through setting up stalls in the premises.
A total number of 41 stalls have been set up in the Theatre Bazaar where visitors can buy products according to their interest in theatre. Stalls showcasing handicrafts, traditional dresses, Madhubani paintings, mask making, books, ornaments etc have caught the attention of the visitors. Ayurvedic supplements including tulsi products are being preferred by the visitors along with traditional jewellery.
Being manufactured in different states, each product has an emotion attached to its origin. National School of Drama (NSD) has managed to bring the vibrancy of our country and the colours of various states, through the stalls set up, on a single platform.
Jaipur’s Mohammad Asif a.k.a King of Master, who has been doing the 400 year-old business of bangles for 32 years, is displaying his stall of “Laak ki Choodi” for the second consecutive year at the Bharat Rang Mahotsav.
Known for his talent of instant Choodi making, Asif can prepare Choodi of your choice of colours and material in few minutes. Visitors can buy bangles made of glass, stone or brass below the range of Rs 50-300.
In this 21-Day long festival, more than one lakh people have been a part of it till now and have enjoyed different colours of theatre in NSD which increased their love for theatre.
The Bharat Rang Mahotsav was started in 1999 by the NSD. Apart from national and international performances that are staged during the Festival, the fare also includes exhibitions, installations, interactive sessions with directors and performers for the general public and professionals, a vibrant theatre café, open forums and meetings and a shorter festival in other cities to which some of the productions travel.
