To celebrate India’s 68th Independence day, Delhi Tourism has organised a cultural festival Jashn-e-Azaadi at Dilli Haat (INA, Janakpuri, Pitampura) that kick started on 12 August. The festival which is a part of the activities and events planned by Govt. of NCT OF Delhi is in collaboration with Department of Art & Culture, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, Sahitya Kala Parishad and various language academies.

The opening three days of the festival saw the qawwali performances by Chand Nizami and group, folk songs by Shrawani Boopathi and Gajadhar Thakur, Punjabi pop music by Ashok Masti and group, Bharatnatyam dance by disciples of Saroja Vaidyanathan and qawwali renditions by Ghulam Sabir and group.

Today the festival is going to feature Punjabi pop music and dance by Kaptan Ladi at INA. There is an army/ CRPF band performance and flag hoisting ceremony at 10 am. Ghazals and folk songs by Pankaj Jeswani at Janakpuri and music and dance by Sakha Vrind will enthrall the audiences at Pitampura.

The closing day of the festival (15 August) will see the performance of ‘Parindey’ a musical band by Anupriya Deotale. Patriotic songs that would be played during the event.

Jashn - e -Azaadi at Dilli Haat has a lineup of cultural programmes throughout the event. A piano artist will play at public demand at the venue.

There are cultural programmes by Sahitya Kala Parishad.  Delhi Tourism’s other two Dilli Haats at Janakpuri and Pitampura will have a flag hoisting ceremony in the morning and will have folk music and dances every evening at 6.30 onwards from 13th to 15th August .

All the Dilli Haats would be illuminated during the Jashn - e -Azaadi celebrations and will give visitors a chance to shop for the tricolors merchandise, khadi products etc.
