Technical snag strikes Metro, commuters stranded for hours

Despite Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s (DMRC) tall claims of running world-class services in the city, passengers were on Friday left stranded for hours due to a technical glitch that hit the blue line.
Hundreds of passengers were left stuck at various stations on the Dwarka to Noida City Centre route as services were disrupted due to a problem in Overhead Electrification (OHE).

‘Metro services on line 3 (Dwarka-Noida City Centre) and line 4 (Yamuna Bank-Vaishali) were running in three short loops following the technical glitch,’ said a DMRC official.
Announcements were being made in trains that ventilation and lights are running on battery system.
OHE problems on Metro trains have become common. On 29 July, owing to electrification problem, Metro services on the blue line to Noida were disrupted for over three hours.

On 11 June this year, train going to HUDA City Centre on busy yellow line broke down in the middle of the tunnel between Central Secretariat and Udhyog Bhawan stations, giving a difficult time to over 1,791 passengers on board the train and severely affecting Metro services across the city during the morning rush hour.
