The investigators have detained two persons on suspicion but have failed to ascertained their involvement and motive behind the gruesome murder. Police have claimed that the two persons have been detained after the deceased’s family raised doubt regarding them but police are conducting raids at various parts of West UP, scanning the CCTV footage of the area to solve the murder.
On Tuesday, the police announced to have formed three teams, which conducted raids in Gautam Budh Nagar, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and other districts. The police claimed to have questioned his friends, including Naresh, whom Ankit had called just before the attack. The police said that Ankit was planning to establish his own business in Noida and was in touch with some of his friends for the purpose.
The number plate of the Honda Accord, which was used by the assailants during the incident, was found fake. During investigation, the number was found to be enlisted to one, Sachin of Shahpur Bamheta village in Ghaziabad.
“We have detained two persons in this connection and are questioning them. We have also formed several teams and are searching for the accused. We are scanning the CCTV footage of the area to identify the criminals. Call details of the deceased are also being scrutinised. We are also taking help from the Meerut Police to unearth more details. Prima facie, it appears to be a case of personal rivalry but things will be clear only after detailed investigation,” said RK Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Noida).
Ankit, the 26-year-old software engineer working with the IT giant TCS, was shot down by four unidentified criminals in Noida’s Sector 76 on Monday evening. Police had said that the engineer was attacked, when he was on his way along with a friend Gagan Dhudhoria to his residence at Sector 77 in a Fortuner car.
He was admitted to Shivalik hospital first and was referred to the Kailash hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Ankit, a permanent resident of Meerut district, had recently shifted to the Prateek Wisteria Apartment in Noida’s Sector 77. He had married Amisha Chauhan, a software engineer working with IT company Accenture, in March this year.
