T-Pain! Rajnath to meet TRS MPs today

The Centre has decided to intervene, albeit subtly, in Telangana to untie knotty issues. Union home minister (MHA) Rajnath Singh is scheduled to meet the TRS MPs in the national capital on Thursday to discuss issues on granting special powers to the Telangana Governor to oversee law and order
situation and its corrective measures in the common capital area of Hyderabad.

Sources said considering long term problem over the issue – if not resolved soon - Governor ESL Narasimhan in his three-day visit to Delhi is expected to meet the home minister and others to brief them on the current situation in the state. The home minister was supposed to meet the TRS MPs last
Monday but due to some engagements in Uttarakhand the meeting was rescheduled for Thursday.

As per Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act, the Governor of the Telangana should be given special responsibilities to ensure law and order situation in the state.

However, the situation turned bitter when the Telangana government through an official letter refused the directive issued by the union home ministry. Singh is expected to initiate a dialogue to end the stand-off between the Telangana government and Centre. It is expected that the Centre will come out with some clauses while implementing Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act.
