A judge posted at the Dwarka Court was hospitalised after he consumed sleeping pills at his residence in East Delhi’s Karkardooma on Thursday morning. According to the police, the judge identified as Pratap Singh Malik was allegedly depressed after he was suspended following a complaint by a woman employee.
Sources said that his wife and daughter had also attempted suicide but managed to survive after they vomited the pills. According to the police, the incident took place on Thursday when it was found that Malik had consumed a lot of sleeping pills in his house in East Delhi’s Karkardooma area.
He was rushed to Hedgewar Hospital where the doctors had found that he was overdosed on sleeping pills. “Due to the allegation, Malik had gone into depression, he was also suspended due to the complaint and that appears to be the reason for his suicide,” said a senior police official.
After he consumed the pills, he was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital last night.
Now, his condition is said to be stable.
“We are yet to record Malik’s statement,” added the police officer. Police said that Malik was posted as the additional district judge at the Dwarka Court at the time of his suspension. He lives with his wife and daughter at Karkardooma Courts Complex.
