Students’ queries turned down by St Stephen’s College

Hundreds of aspiring students, who visited St Stephen’s College with admission-related queries, were turned away by the authorities saying that ‘everything is online’. The college states that all the admission-related FAQs are already there on the website and there is no need for the students to come to college for their queries.

‘What is the need to come to college when you can get all the answers online’, asked one of the attendants at the university, not wishing to be named. ‘I went to St Stephens as I had heard it from a friend that there are some issues with the website. I didn’t want to take risk by applying online. But I was not even allowed to enter the college premises and turned away from the gate itself’, said Nidhi Biju, an aspiring student who wishes to study English literature at Stephen’s.

It has been reported that the college’s website has developed some technical error resulting in applications not being processed.

The college, however, said they have set up a counseling centre for those who are facing difficulty in submitting online admission forms. Around 8,000 students have registered online for admission in Stephens while 5,500 have already paid their fees.

The admission procedure for minority colleges such as St Stephens and Jesus & Mary College is separate from DU. The centralised DU forms do not apply to these colleges.
