Student of class II raped inside school

After the gruesome rape and murder of a paramedical student last year in the capital, an incident that shook the country and brought people out on the streets, a seven-year-old girl, student of 2nd standard, was allegedly raped inside the premises of a school run by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation. The alleged assault took place on Thursday afternoon inside the school premises in Mangolpuri area, when the child went for her midday meal.

According to the complaint lodged with the police, when the girl returned home, she was crying. Initially, she did not reveal anything to her parents. When the intense pain proved unbearable for her, she narrated her ordeal late in the night after which her parents rushed her to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where medical examination confirmed rape.

According to the police officials, the victim’s parents informed the police about the incident on Friday morning after the doctors confirmed sexual assault. The girl’s private parts are partially damaged. ‘According to the victim’s parents, when she went for her mid-day meal, provided by the school inside the campus, an unidentified man waylaid her on the way on some pretext and took her to an isolated area in the school campus where he mercilessly raped her. After raping her, he even threatened her of dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone. She could not recognise the culprit,’ said a police official.

‘A case has been registered and school officials are being questioned,’ said the cops. According to the police, in her statement, the girl said the attacker was not known to her. The officials have detained three suspects. The three people detained include two teachers of the school and a watchman.

The school is run by Municipal Corporation of north Delhi. ‘Police is investigating the case. The incident took place at L block school of Mangolpuri. The corporation is extending all possible help to the police in investigations. If anyone from the school is found guilty, he would be dealt with strictly,’ said Deepak Hastir Additional Commissioner (Education).

Demanding swift action against the culprits, residents of Mangolpuri staged a three-hour demonstration outside the local police station on Friday morning, leading to traffic chaos in the area. Police had to use batons to disperse the crowd. Some protestors and policemen were injured during the protest.
