In order to promote the sports in the capital, directorate of education, Delhi, has decided to enhance sports infrastructure and facilities at various sports federations.
Amit Singla, directorate of education, Delhi said, ‘As a result of pressing requirements for sports in city, we have decided to ensure optimum utilisation of sports infrastructure created from time to time, to various sports federations, educational institutions, associations, NGOs, and in other such organizations, which intend to promote sports.’
Singla added, ‘The facility is being made available for organising their sports events as well as educational conferences and seminars, on payment of usage charges. The booking of sports playground is made for organising sports tournament and sports as well as providing coaching.’
Some of the facilities made available are Thyagraj Stadium, near INA. Facilities for athletics, tennis, badminton, table tennis, judo, Yoga centre, basketball, multipurpose indoor hall have been agreed upon and will be introduced soon. In Chatrasal Stadium, Model Town, facilities athletics, football, basketball, wrestling, table tennis, Kabbadi and Yoga centre are being introduced.’
