Sportsman held for trading arms illegally

Delhi Police Special Cell arrested a shooting player indulging in illegal arms and ammunition trade. He procured ammunition from another shooter and intended to sell them further to criminals in the area of Delhi and Muzaffarnagar of UP.

A cache of 5,000 live cartridges of .22 bore, 500 Hollow point, 30 empty cartridges of Prohibited 9 mm & amp; 33 empty cartridges of .325 bore has been recovered. A Scorpio car used to transport the ammunition has also been seized. The accused has been identified as Mukarram Ali Khan who has won medals in shooting championships. At around 3.10 am, Khan was arrested from Kalindi Kunj Barrage with the consignment.

During interrogation, he told police that he procured these illegal ammunition from another shooter, Akshay. He intended to sell the recovered illegal ammunition to one Sonu, an associate and Mehandi, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, UP. 

Khan used to purchase the cartridges of .22 bore and .22 Hollow point cartridges from Akshay at the price of Rs 20 and Rs 50 per cartridge and further sold to Sonu and Mehandi for Rs 30 and Rs 60 per cartridge respectively. 

In 2013, Khan had won a silver in double trap at the 33rd North Zone Shooting Championship, held in Delhi.
