PSG beat Montpellier to move atop Ligue 1

Update: 2017-04-23 16:05 GMT
Edinson Cavani's 31st league goal of the season earned defending champions Paris Saint-Germain a 2-0 home win against Montpellier, sending the club to the top of Ligue 1 table past Monaco, who have two more games in hand.

It was also Cavani's 44th goal in all competitions this season. The Uruguayan striker put Blaise Matuidi's left-flank cross into the net at the 29th minute on Saturday, reports Xinhua news agency.

Three minutes into the second half, Cavani back-heeled Angel Di Maria, who fired a powerful shot outside the box for his fifth goal in last five games. In other games, Bordeaux moved up to fourth place with a 2-0 home victory over bottom side Bastia, who also faced points deduction due to fans' pitch invasion to attack their opponents in last weekend's home encounter with Lyon.
