Spice targets 10 million handset sales in a year

Spice Group announced a strategic partnership with Huawei, the leading global information, communication and technology solutions provider, to launch the S Huawei brand in the Indian market.

The company will launch 7-10 series of handsets under this partnership in the near future. The first in a series of 3G smart phones, the Ascend Y 100 has recently been launched in the market. Spice plans to sell approximate 1 million S Huawei handsets this fiscal.

Spice has also tied up with Google for Android handsets. The company aims to sell approximate 1.5 million android 2G WiFi and 3G handsets in partnership with Google.

The overall target of the company is to sell 10 million handsets in the current fiscal, including 7.5 million 2G handsets from domestic and international sales.

Spice Group global chairman Bhupendra Kumar Modi said, 'The group today has established itself as a leading solution provider.

These partnerships are key drivers to expand our global footprints. Globally, we are growing at a fast pace. Today, more than 50 per cent of the revenue comes from the international market. In Indonesia, we have crossed $1 billion revenue as of 30th June, 2012 results. Presently, we have 1,250 stores in retail and distribution. We plan to increase this number to 5000 stores across India, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Africa.'

The Ascend Y 100, which offers 5 seconds boot, will run on the Android 2.3 Ginger Bread platform.
