Speeding Audi rams into truck, 1 dead, two injured

The deceased was identified as Intezar Husain (30), who was a realtor by profession. He lived in Ghaziabad’s Indrapuram area. The other two occupants of the car were identified as Sushil Kumar Mishra (22) and Suman (22). Husain is survived by his wife and five month old son.

According to police, the incident took place around 11.30 pm at the Tolstoy Marg crossing when the car was coming from CP and rammed into a loaded truck. The truck driver fled the spot leaving his vehicle behind.

Police said the crash was so severe that the rescuers took more than 90 minutes to take Husain out from the remains of the car. A disaster management team which reached the spot had to use gas-cutters and other heavy equipment to pull the three occupants out of the car.

“It seems that the three were returning from a wedding. Either one of the two vehicles were speeding when the accident took place. The trio was rushed to Lok Nayak Hospital were Husain was declared dead on arrival,” said a senior police official. Sushil and Suman were later referred to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, where they are still recuperating from their injuries.

Police said they have traced the owner of the truck, bearing a Haryana number registration number and he will be questioned.

A case of rash driving and causing death by negligence has been registered at Barakhamba police station and further investigations are on.
