Special drive to decongest Vikas Marg launched

The district magistrate of east Delhi has launched a special drive to decongest Vikas Marg, one of the busiest roads in Delhi.

The decision was taken at the district task force meeting, which was also attended by officials from  transport department, civic body and traffic Police. The authorities also towed away 27 vehicles during the special drive. ‘Special emphasis was laid down to ensure that Gramin Sewa, RTVs and cycle rickshaws do not choke the crucial junction at Madhuban Chowk.  The enforcement branch of transport department was also roped in to prosecute those violating rules,’Kumar Kunal, east Delhi’s district magistrate said.

He further added that the PWD has commenced the work of providing u-turn on the Patparganj road so that vehicles do not block the traffic at the signal.  ‘Traffic police have also earmarked a lane for cycle rickshaws on the Patparganj Road leading towards Mandawali,’ added Kunal.
