In a pre-poll gift to group housing societies in its area, South Delhi Municipal Corporation is providing semi-high mast lights, benches for elders and swings for children in the parks.
‘We are distributing one semi-high mast light for lighting, four fancy steel benches and swing for each playground and park in the South DMC area,’ said Rajesh Gehlot, chairman of the standing committee in South DMC. The corporation has already purchased these gifts and started their distribution in housing societies. ‘These housing societies pay property tax to the corporation, but the corporation was not extending any service to them so we have now decided to extend our public amenities,’ added Gehlot.
The distribution of these gifts has started on a pilot project basis from the Najafgarh zone and will extended it to the other parts.
‘We have 165 housing societies in four wards of Matiala assembly segment only where the distribution of these facilities is being carried out,’ added Gehlot.
