South Africa’s Rabada claims hat-trick on debut

Kagiso <g data-gr-id="8">Rabada</g> became only the second man in history to claim a hat-trick on debut in one-day international cricket during the first ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Friday.

<g data-gr-id="10">Rabada</g> bowled Tamim Iqbal in the third ball of his second over and then had Litton Das and Mahmudullah in the next two deliveries to complete the set, joining Bangladesh’s <g data-gr-id="11">Taijul</g> Islam, who achieved the feat against Zimbabwe at the same ground last December. The 20-year-old <g data-gr-id="12">pacer</g> later added three wickets to his tally to finish with 6-16, the best ever haul by a debutant, bettering the record of West Indies’ Fidel Edwards, who claimed 6-22 against Zimbabwe in 2003. abada is the first South African to bag six wickets on debut and only the second South African bowler to claim five wickets in his first one-day international match.
